The Anne Arundel County NAACP Health Committee is hosting a Listening Session this Tuesday, March 4th, at 8 PM via Zoom. Health professionals and others who have direct experience of community health needs are invited to participate as panelists; members and potential committee members are invited to attend in order to hear, firsthand, about community health needs. The Education Committee meets via Zoom on the first Thursday of each month. The March meeting will focus on the following topics:
(1) Hate/bias/bullying reports in Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS),
(2) Performance metrics in AACPS,
(3) Demographic impact of the published AACPS redistricting scenarios, and
(4) Formation of a literacy subcommittee and a social media subcommittee

General Membership Meeting
The General Membership Meeting is held as a hybrid in-person/Zoom meeting from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the third Saturday of each month. The physical meetings take place at the Cook-Pinkney American Legion Post 141, 1707 Forest Dr Annapolis, MD 21401. The Zoom meeting link is sent to the membership the week preceding each meeting.

The 7th Annual 2025 Women's History Month Award 'Michelle Obama Awards', on Monday, March 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Maryland Hall for a wonderful evening. This year's theme, "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations," honors women who have profoundly influenced their communities through leadership, mentorship, and education while embodying traits exemplified by former First Lady Michelle Obama—grace, strength, resilience, and a commitment to empowering others.
Our own Ms. Lea Green, Chair of the Prison Branch, will be an honoree this year.

Caucus of African American Leaders (CAAL) Special Session with AACPS Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center
The meeting begins promptly at 6:00 with a presentation on education by Dr. Bedell. Dr. Bedell’s presentation will be followed by question and answer with the community. Food and beverages will be provided.

Any member of the Anne Arundel County Branch of the NAACP can attend this meeting. This would be a great way for people to learn more about ACT, meet the other members of ACT, meet the new Community Organizer Carlos Childs, and hear about what ACT is doing and plans to do.
